The Rome Rotary Club Canalfest Fishing Derby was held on Saturday, Aug. 3 at Bellamy Harbor Park. There were 84 participants with 51 adults and 33 children.

Each age group was divided into two categories: Gamefish and Non-Gamefish with three Lucky Fish drawings. Any child who caught and registered a fish, regardless of size, was entered in the “Lucky Fish” random drawing for a $25 check. The three lucky fish winners this year are: Dominic Dole, Cheyenne Oakes, and Karl VanHoesel.

The first place winner of $100 in the Adult Gamefish category was John Carpenter with a large mouth Bass weighing 1.41 pounds. There was no second place $50 prize winner this year.

The first place winner in the Adult Non-Gamefish category for the $100 prize was won by Niels VanHoesel with a carp weighing 23.57 lbs. The $50 second place fish was a bullhead caught by Heather Ingersoll at 11.75 inches in length.

In the Children’s Gamefish category, Anthony Hoffmeister caught a .79 pound small mouth bass to win the $50 first place with Evan Melendez catching a small mouth bass measuring 12.25 inches for the $25 second place prize.
