Local finalist in biomedical engineering competition


Stephanie Klosek of Deerfield was a finalist in a biomedical engineering competition to create assistive technology to aid people with disabilities at the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, Nassau County.

Klosek’s team, “Sponge Candy,” tackled a project to use existing motion-capture videogame systems, such as Microsoft Kinect, for telemedicine. Klosek is pursuing a doctorate in medicine.
