UTICA — Utica University alumnus Richard Short will be the latest speaker to deliver a talk as a part of the F. Eugene Romano Executive Lecture Series at Utica University.

The presentation will be delivered at the Robert Brvenik Center for Business Education at the Clark City Center, 181 Genesee St., at 7 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 13).

Short is the corporate associate vice president at Indium Corporation, and has been with the company for 38 years.

During his time, the company has grown from just a single location in Utica, to a global enterprise with 16 locations across the U.S., U.K., Singapore, China, South Korea, Germany, India and Malaysia.

In his current role, Short ensures the global programs and initiatives align with the corporate brand and culture as well as the philosophy of The Indium Way.

He is also in charge of overseeing community engagement as well as image and reputation management.

Short is a very active member of the community, providing mentorship to high school and college students through the Utica University Young Scholars Program, serving and supporting students and faculty at the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES P-TECH program and serving as a board member, mentor, and volunteer at The Midtown Utica Community Center.

Officials add that he is also a social activist who dedicates his resources to support and promote education, engagement and networking to improve the lives of those who reside in the Mohawk Valley.

The F. Eugene Romano Executive lecture series is presented by the Business and Economics Department of Utica University in cooperation with the Office of Advancement.

The series gives students the opportunity to engage with community leaders in those fields and learn from their experiences in the industry, according to the university.
