UTICA — Local author Angela U. Carter will host a book signing for her work “Letters to Ma Mama: All the Things I Never Said.”

The event will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, at the Utica Public Library, 303 Genesee St.

Carter’s book focuses on her struggle with dealing with domestic violence from her former marriage, but the author describes her book as a message of hope and encouragement, and one that can help readers learn how to recognize signs of abuse.

The book signing will feature an interview with the author, conducted by Oneida County Legislator Evon Ervin, framed from Carter’s experience, which will cover general intimate partner violence education, how to support survivors and local community resources.

Carter has been featured on several podcasts and was recently interviewed by Morning Barbados in Barbados. Carter was born and raised in Barbados, but has called Utica her home for more than 30 years.

She serves as a member of the Utica Oneida NAACP and also serves on the board of directors for the Legal Aid Society of Mid New York.
