Local adventurer tells his story during library presentation

CLINTON — Community members will have the opportunity to hear about the adventures of a local sailor at Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7.

Attendees will hear how Clinton’s own Captain Steve Bellona made the journey from Spain to Florida.

Monday Movies

Feb. 11 and 25 at 2 p.m.

Watch a recent release on the big screen. Popcorn will be served. For movie titles, check the library’s website.

Monday Book Group

Feb. 11 at Noon

All are welcome to a conversation on “The Water Will Come,” by Jeff Goodell.

Happy Tails Reading Program

Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 4-5:30 p.m.

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade who can read independently can take a turn reading to a trained therapy dog. Contact the library to sign up for a 15-minute shift.

Chocolate Throwdown

Thursday, Feb. 14 from 5-7 p.m.

Patrons are invited to enter their best chocolate creation in the library’s throwdown and see if they win. Tasters are also needed to sample everything and vote. Bakers should register by contacting the library by Feb. 7. Tasters can just bring their sweet tooth on Feb. 14.

Third Thursday Cookbook Club

Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.

Choose a recipe from the selected cookbook and bring it to a potluck dinner, This month participants are making recipes from “Julia & Jacques Cooking at Home,” by Julia Child and Jacques Pepin. Stop by the library to look at the cookbook, choose a recipe and sign up. 

Hamilbrary

Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

This popular series brings Hamilton College professors to the library to discuss a book of their choice. This month, Carl Rubino, the Winslow Professor of Classics Emeritus, will lead a conversation on Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein.” Copies of the book are available at the library now.

• Wigglers for ages 0-2 on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

• Walkers for ages 2-3 on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

• Talkers for ages 3-5 on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
