Loaded handgun seized in Utica
UTICA — A 25-year-old man was found with a loaded handgun while walking with a group of people on Mohawk Street Tuesday afternoon, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said they were conducting an investigation into recent reports of gunfire and weapons possession when they spotted several familiar people walking on Mohawk Street near Elizabeth Street around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. While speaking to the group, police said Omar Jadama, 25, of Utica, started acting suspiciously, so officers conducted a pat down.
Jadama was found with a loaded handgun, police said. Jadama is charged with one count each of second-degree possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
