SHERRILL — The Sherrill Kenwood Library is hosting a display of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill school district student art during March in honor of Youth Art Month, the VVS district announced.
The display at the 543 Sherrill Road facility, ranging from elementary abstract art to middle school paper art to high school landscapes, is “a testament to the outstanding arts programs and dedicated art teachers in the district,” according to the announcement.
Sherrill Kenwood Library Director Mary Kay Junglen looks forward to the display every March, said the district.
“It’s great because there are a lot of our patrons who no longer get to the schools for events, so it’s a really nice way to showcase to the community what our kids are doing,” Junglen said.
“It’s one of the best shows we do all year — It gets a lot of attention and it’s nice to recognize the kids and their work,” Junglen added.
VVS elementary art teacher Melissa Moore noted that for the past several years, the VVS Art Department has celebrated Youth Art Month during March.
Junglen “has been a great partner to us by letting us display artwork at the library,” said Moore.
“Our students love bringing their families to the library to see their work shown in a gallery setting. Patrons of the library also love to see what the children in their community are doing too,” she said.
