TOWN OF MONTAGUE — A St. Lawrence County man was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Lewis County Saturday night.

State police said Cody J. Holland, 25, of Ogdensburg, was westbound on Sears Pond Road at about 1 p.m. when he lost control of his 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck due to unsafe speeds. Troopers said the pickup went off the north shoulder and crashed through several trees before overturning onto its driver’s side.

Troopers said Holland was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passenger Braeden M. Fargo, 22, also of Ogdensburg, was treated at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown for minor injuries, authorities stated.

According to Holland’s obituary, which appears on the Frary Funeral Homes and Cremation Services website, he died “as a result of injuries sustained from being a dumb ass. He drank, drove, and didn’t wear his seat belt! Please, don’t be a dumb ass!” The crash remains under investigation.
