Lewis County man charged with BAC more than twice legal limit
DENMARK — A Lewis County man registered a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal threshold after a traffic stop in Denmark late Wednesday night, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies said Timothy J. Berrus, 55, of Lowville, was southbound on Route 26 around 10:47 p.m. when he was pulled over for not having working taillights on his vehicle. Once stopped, deputies said Berrus registered a BAC of 0.19% — more than twice the legal threshold of 0.08%.
Berrus is charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and other traffic infractions, authorities stated. He was released on appearance tickets to Denmark Town Court.
