LETTER: What are our state and federal lawmakers thinking?

I think our government has lost its mind. As indebted as our country is, our state lawmakers voted themselves a $32,000 raise to a total of $142,000. Most people work 12 months and don’t even make $32,000 a year.

Why don’t they try living on Social Security? Have they ever heard of living within their means? We don’t get perks or handouts. They should know they were elected to do a good, honest job for the people. Why don’t they worry about cleaning up our debts instead of their own pocket books.

I praise the 43 people who voted against the raise; it’s nice to know some of our politicians have some common sense. You know that power and money buys your way to hell.

Our federal government has also gotten too big for its britches. They give our hard-earned tax dollars to foreign countries and let the nation go down the drain. They hand out everything to the immigrants and say to hell with Americans.

Veterans saved our country, and some lost their lives doping it. What about their families did you concern yourself about them? Is this the way a budget is balanced? What about America first?

Come on America, wake up and stand up for our beautiful America. God did not intend for our country to be a crime, fraud and lying place. We need to get rid of the self-serving politicians in office for a good start.
