LETTER: Well, here we go again
Gov. Kathy Hochul has decided that local governments are incapable of making plans for their own communities. First, it was guns, and she is taking a shellacking in the courts over her total disregard of the Constitution and the Second Amendment. It seems that the Leftist-Socialists have a need to have control over everything in our lives.
They have totally screwed up the criminal justice system with their coddling of criminals from doing away with the bail system to making unreasonable demands on prosecutors to produce evidence as the time it takes to develop lab reports and analysis of evidence is totally disregarded. Don’t get me wrong; I am all for the “speedy trial” of a criminal defendant, but these Lefties have forgotten the purpose of government is to protect the citizens from predators. And, they have steadfastly tried to remove the right to self-defense as guaranteed by the Constitution.
Most of these Leftists are centered in New York City, Buffalo and Rochester with the rest of the state being held hostage to their need to control individuals. And now, they’ve moved on to housing. Yes, there are some housing problems in the larger cities, but the problems that Hochul and company perceive do not exist upstate for the most part. We already have enough laws to protect people from discrimination, racism, etc.
Apparently, Hochul has forgotten the major cause of the “Great Recession” which occurred during the Bush Administration as the government was trying get everyone into home ownership. Banks were forced to grant mortgages that the home owners could not afford — and these institutions, and then the taxpayers, suffered.
Now Hochul decides to revamp the same worn-out programs that have failed so miserably both from economic standpoint and, to many, a person standpoint.
Don’t the voters think it is time to put these Lefties out to pasture where they can’t do us any more harm?
