LETTER: Small church continues to show its big heart
A mid the hustle and bustle of Christmastime, the acts of kindness and giving back to your community still exist. While many of us have housing, food and clothing, there are those without these basic necessities.
Planning for the winter months ahead, a goal of the United Methodist Women was to provide warm clothing to families in need. During the year this church group raised funds through dinners, rummage, bake and craft sales to support social service organizations
throughout Oneida County.
In the spirit of the season of giving the United Methodist Women met last week at the Lee Center Methodist Church, on Main St. in Lee Center, to gather and deliver dozens of hand made and purchased hats, scarfs, slippers, and blankets and a monetary donation
to help families in our area to the Rome Rescue Mission.
The group also helped Santa by sponsoring families from the West Leyden School with clothing and toys for the children from their wish list.
In addition, food items and a monetary donation was given to the St. Joseph’s Food Pantry.
The people of the Lee Center Methodist Church give their time, effort and talents to help others in our community. The spirit of the season is alive in this small church with a big heart.
People are welcome to join us on Sundays to worship at 11 a.m. with Rev. Pete Mowers or join us for our Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m.
