LETTER: Consider Democrats’ positions on abortion
The strategy of the Democratic party is to use the abortion issue to get its candidates elected to Congress. That is why their political advertising falsely insinuates that congressmen can pass laws that will change state abortion laws. The truth is that the United States Supreme Court reiterated in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that regulating abortions is the province of state legislatures.
The Democrats’ false advertising extends to our congressional district. Republican Conservative candidate Brandon Williams supports exceptions to laws prohibiting abortion in instances of rape, incest, or medical threats to the life of the mother. The Democrats’ political commercials falsely indicate that Williams does not.
Consider the political motives of the Democratic party as it belittles and disparages any person or candidate who dares to protect unborn children from being treated like property. Their commercials do not describe the gruesome procedure that ends the life of an unborn child. Their commercials do not mention that the Democratic party wants this procedure allowed at any time until birth for any reason or no reason at all.
Former President Jimmy Carter, a Democrat, said in 2012, “I’ve signed a public letter calling for the Democratic Party at the next convention to espouse my position on abortion which is to minimize the need requirement for abortion and limit it only to women whose lives are in danger or who are pregnant as a result of rape or incest. I think if the Democratic Party would adopt that policy that would be acceptable to a lot of people who are now estranged from our party because of the abortion issue.”
If the Democratic party wants to identify candidates with extreme opinions on abortion, it should just look in the mirror.
