LETTER: A warrior and a good man
When I think about how Coach Myslinski should be remembered, I think of the Warrior in the man. Coach was the epitome of physical and mental strength. He commanded respect as you could sense the presence in the man. He led by a great example of traits like strength, toughness, mental toughness, courage and a competitive spirit.
If you had the good fortune of having Coach Myslinski as your coach, you were impacted in a positive way and your confidence and life skills were better for it.
In thinking of how Coach should also be remembered, I know that he was a Good Man. I’m thinking of Godliness, honesty, truthfulness and integrity to name a few. The number of kids that Coach influenced in a positive way would be hard to count and that is his great legacy.
Coach Myslinski was my mentor. He was someone I looked up to and tried to emulate. Over the years we became fast friends. I grew to love the man for he had a heart of gold. Further my family and I consider it a great honor to call the Myslinskis our friends.
On one occasion, when I was at Tennessee, we were playing Maryland in the Liberty Bowl. I wondered who Coach would be rooting for since he had played at Maryland. When I got to the dressing room prior to the game, there was a telegram waiting for me that said, “Good luck, Beat a Terp. Coach Myslinski.”
How cool was that, and I still have the Western Union note to this day.
Coach Myz was one of a kind and the world was a better place with him in it.
Coach Myslinski was, “A Warrior and a Good Man.”
We will miss him greatly.
We love you Coach, God Bless.
