LCASC holds April meeting

LOWVILLE — The Lewis County Association of Sportsman’s Clubs (LCASC) held their most recent meeting on Wednesday, April 19 in the conference room at Jeb’s Restaurant. Members present included the Moose River Fish & Game Club, the Stillwater #4 Fish & Game Club, the Youth Pheasant Hunt committee, the Beaver River Fish & Game Club, the Glen-Greig Fish & Game Club, the Oswegatchie River Hunt Club and the Great Lot Sportsman’s Club.

A motion was made by Henry Tarasek to accept the minutes of the October 2022 meeting as read, seconded by John Michael; motion carried. Another motion was made by John Michael to accept the treasurer’s report, seconded by Henry Tarasek; motion carried.

A letter was received from the Lewis County Fairgrounds requesting donations, as they are renovating under the grandstand, replacing the wiring and carrying out other forms of construction. Members who think the LCASC should make a donation should inform Patricia Sweet, secretary, with the amount they think the LCASC should contribute. This facility has been used to promote the LCASC for many years.

It is time for members to send in their annual dues; please send checks to LCASC, 8941 Adsit Trail, Lowville, NY 13367.

Tom Stewart spoke about the Lewis County Watershed. Committee reports were presented by Guy Case (Black Powder), Patricia Sweet (Big Game) and Don Geydesen (Fish).

Guns have been ordered for the annual raffle, including a Savage 6.5 Weaver Scope and a Henry 22 Brass Receiver.

The LCASC is currently accepting applications for youth to attend Camp Oswegatchie and Camp Colby (Camp Colby is currently closed due to lack of employees).

David Brown reported that the bird flu is attacking the raided pheasant population for the annual Youth Pheasant Hunt, and that he will remain in correspondence with pheasant providers. Patricia Sweet has raffle items to benefit the pheasant hunt.

There was some discussion about whether or not to attend the Sportsman’s Expo at 3 Willows in Lyons Falls.

A sign-up sheet for the Lewis County Fair will be at the next meeting of the LCASC, scheduled for Wednesday, June 21 at the Great Lot Sportsman’s Club in West Leyden.

A motion to adjourn was made by Guy Case, seconded by John Michael.
