‘Law and Orders’ to raise funds for Special Olympics

The Rome Police Department will be taking their orders from customers at Applebee’s restaurant on Thursday evening for their annual Special Olympics fundraiser, according to a department announcement.

Several members of the Rome Police Department will be in uniform as servers from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar on Black River Boulevard,
officials said.

The officers will greet and seat customers, bus tables and serve guests. Guests will then be encouraged to leave their tips for the Special Olympics.

The “Law and Orders” event is an annual fundraiser organized by the Law Enforcement Torch Run Program.

The Rome Police Department has participated for several years.

The Utica Police Department will also participate at the Applebees on Riverside Drive in Utica, and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and New Hartford Police Department will participate at the Applebees on Commercial Drive in New Hartford.

The Special Olympics provides opportunties for individuals with developmental
disabiltiies to participate in a variety of athletic and fitness events and competitions.
