ROME — A large fight at West Court and Frederick streets in Rome Wednesday afternoon is under investigation — though no one involved is cooperating, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said they were dispatched to a report of a large fight at about 5 p.m. Wednesday and most people involved had fled the scene before officers arrived. Police said they found a vehicle parked on the basketball courts at Stevens Field with two female victims inside.

A third female victim was located near the vehicle, and a male victim with several injuries was found a short distance away, police stated.

All four were evaluated at the scene by medical personnel and then refused transportation to the hospital, police said. The injured parties later took themselves to the hospital.

None of the four was willing to cooperate with the officers on the scene about the fight, police said. They were advised to report to the police station on Thursday if they wanted to pursue charges, and police said no one followed up.

Police said it is believed that the fight started due to a separate criminal incident under investigation by a different agency.

Anyone with information about the fight is encouraged to call the Rome Police tip line at 315-339-7744 or anonymous tips can be called in to Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-866-730-8477.
