We want to echo the “thank you” the community recently voiced in praise of the Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department.
Despite the challenge of raising cash in the department’s annual fund drive during the pandemic, the department persevered.
Lake Delta F.D. said that the 2020 fund drive that was conducted by mail raised about 43% of its annual budget. “Even with everyone dealing with all the COVID-19 aspects...our neighbors within our community have graciously and sincerely stepped up during 2020...,” said the announcement by department volunteers along with department President Edward Davis and Fire Chief Larry Tamburrino.
Lake Delta, which operates independently, its only guaranteed projected income through its contracts with the Town of Lee Board of Fire Commissioners and the Western Town Board and that’s about 38% of its annual budget. The virus affected the department’s planned fundraising events in 2020.
Nevertheless, fundraising events — with appropriate health precautions — will be at least planned for and only carried out if possible in 2021.
That’s good news for the 8508 Elmer Hill Road department that has just completed its 78th year of service.
