Lake Delta Fire Dept. to hold chicken barbecue fundraiser
The Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department will hold a drive-thru chicken barbecue fundraiser on Sunday, July 26, from noon until the chicken is sold out, at the firehouse at 8508 Elmer Hill Road.
The department’s fire police will be present to direct people on where to buy and pick up the dinners to-go, said department President Edward Davis. There will be no eat-in, interior dining at the site, he added.
Included will be chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink. Davis said the fire department’s long-enjoyed “special marinade sauce” will be used in the preparation process for barbecuing the chicken.
The event is an annual summer fundraiser for the department and typically has been in conjunction with the local Honor America Days celebration, Davis noted. Although the overall Honor America Days observance was canceled due to COVID-19 impacts, Davis said the fire department will still hold its event.
