Lake Delta Fire Department to collect scrap metal, bottles and cans

ROME — The Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Scrap Metal Collection Days along with a bottle and can drive on Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The event will take place at the Lake Delta department firehouse, 8508 Elmer Hill Road, the announcement added.

The department can accept the following items:

  • All metals;
  • Appliances such as stoves, washing machines and dryers;
  • Yard care items; and
  • Lead batteries.

The department cannot accept:

  • Tires;
  • Hazardous waste;
  • Microwaves;
  • Garbage;
  • Plastics;
  • Paint cans;
  • Oil filters;
  • Propane tanks;
  • Electronics;
  • Items with freon such as refrigerators, freezers or air conditioning units;
  • Chainlink fencing;
  • Wire rope;
  • Wood; or
  • Concrete.

Pickup for this year’s event is not available.
