Kudos to Boonville-Oneida County Fair organizers

BOONVILLE — Kudos to organizers who have worked diligently to bring back the Boonville-Oneida County Fair — which opened today — after the 2020 event was canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When David Hyatt, president of the fair Board of Directors, announced this spring that the popular fair would return it was welcome news — and not just to the area’s farmers, who get a well deserved opportunity to shine but by all of us who enjoy outstanding entertainment, midway rides, and, of course, festival food.

The 2021 Boonville-Oneida County Fair runs through Sunday, Aug. 1.

For those who are looking for some fun times, at low cost, the Boonville-Oneida County Fair is excited to offer some free shows that are good for the entire family! These free shows are presented multiple times every day from the following organizations:

• BMX Stunt Bicycle Show: This exhilarating performance will have you on the edge of your seat. The skilled riders at Dialed Action Sports will have three shows each day: 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. To learn more about their show, go to dialedactionsportsteam.com.

• Swifty Swine Racing Pigs: This fast-paced show will having you squealing in excitement. Swifty’s show will be offered three times each day of the Fair at 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. To find out more about the pigs, go to swiftyswine.com.

• Commerford Petting Zoo: Bring your kids and meet animals like pygmy horses, goats, a unicow and more! Commerford’s also offers camel rides and pony rides for an added charge. This petting zoo will follow regular Fair hours. Visit Commerford’s website to learn more: commerfordzoo.com.

The Fair is open at 8 a.m. every day. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Fair office from 10 a.m.-3 p.m ., Monday-Friday.
