The Clinton girls unified hockey team beat Potsdam 3-1 Saturday at home in a non-league contest. Rome Free Academy freshman Drew Kopek scored twice for Clinton, including the game-winner.
Whitesboro senior Bella Callahan added the other goal.Senior Lizzie Battle (Oriskany) had an assist.
RFA senior Hailey Millington stopped 27 shots in the win.
The Warriors improved to 5-2-2 on the season.
Clinton takes on Ithaca at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kennedy Arena with a possible top seed in sectional playoffs on the line. Ithaca won the first meeting 1-0. The Little Red are in first place in Section III with a 2-0-2 league record. Clinton is in second with a 2-1-1 league record.
RFA wrestler gets 100th career win
RFA wrestler Ashton Thompson won the 113-pound weight class and got his 100th career win at the Cazenovia Invitational Saturday. The team placed 12th.
Wally Wright was second at 138. Johnathan Walston was third at 182.
Oriskany holds off Pulaski
The Oriskany girls basketball team beat Pulaski 51-37 for a road Center State Conference win.
The Redskins went up 12-2 after a quarter but Pulaski trimmed the lead to three by halftime. Oriskany then extended their lead with a 16-7 third quarter.
Ashley Reid led Oriskany with 13 points. Sofia Tagliaferri had 12 points.
Mount Markham gets comeback win
Holland Patent led Mount Markham 36-34 going into the fourth quarter Saturday but were outscored by seven and fell 52-47 in a Center State girls basketball game at home.
Anna Healey led HP with 15 points, and added six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Alivia Alexander had 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Emily Carlson scored 10 and grabbed 15 rebounds for a double-double, with three assists, two steals and two blocks.
RFA earns volleyball win
The RFA girls volleyball team beat East Syracuse-Minoa 3-1 at home in a league match.
RFA won the first set 25-18, then lost 26-24. They then ran off wins 25-16 and 25-10.
RFA was led by Madison Wolfe with sven kills, five digs, three assists and two aces; Megan Magnanti with nine kills, five digs and two aces; Alexis Kennedy with nine kills, four digs and four assists; Aimee Hurlbut with 21 digs and four aces; and Casey Hunziker with two kills, five digs, 22 assists and five aces.
Mount Markham shuts out Westmo
The Westmoreland girls volleyball lost 3-0 to Mount Markham.
The Mustangs, who won the sets 25-3, 25-13 and 25-10, have won 29 straight matches. Their last loss was the 2018 sectional final.
For Westmoreland, Samantha Dee had eight digs and Isabella Ricci had seven digs.
Oneida boys stay undefeated
The Oneida boys volleyball team improved to 3-0 this season with a 3-2 win at home against Sququoit Valley.
Oneida fell behind by two sets after losing 25-16 and 25-22. They rallied to win the final three, 27-25, 25-16 and 15-13.
Oneida's leaders were Ethan Scanlon with 26 assists and six digs; Tesfaye Hatch with two aces, 19 assist and four digs; Nate Jennings with 14 kills and five digs; Zander Farr with six kills, four blocks and 13 digs; Dylan Becraft with eight kills and seven blocks; Lucas Candee with eight kills and nine blocks; and Ryan Paul with three aces and 13 digs.
