Komen participates in hurricane relief program

CLINTON — Sophomore Brian Komen, of Clinton, spent a week of winter break in Kure Beach, N.C., doing community service as part of Hamilton College’s Alternative Break program.

In all, nine Hamilton students participated in Hurricane Florence relief efforts through Community Collaborations International, building a fence for a horse pasture, cleaning out flooded shelves, packing residents’ belongings prior to house renovations and digging a trench to help with rainwater drainage.

Hamilton offers Alternative Break Experiences for students over fall, winter and spring breaks. It enables students to participate in once-in-a-lifetime service opportunities in communities where help is needed.
