Knock, officials say, and the Working Solutions door will be opened

ROME — Those seeking assistance in finding a job or getting them through the application process can find help at Working Solutions, 300 W. Dominick St., Suite 1. The office is open for full services. Working Solutions Manager Terry Humphries said staff recently did find an old sign indicating the office was closed due to COVID, which has now been removed.

“But we were open the entire time during COVID,” Humphries said. “We were closed only the first three weeks of the pandemic, but then we re-opened for services.”

However, several services offered by Working Solutions have gone virtual or online since the pandemic, which resulted in fewer local residents reporting to the Downtown Rome office.

“We have a sign on the door that says ‘not for entry’ because we don’t have someone sitting at the (front) desk all the time,” Humphries explained. “We ask that anyone seeking our services knock on the door and someone will come open the door and assist them.”

Working Solutions offers recruitment services, on-the-job training, interview training, online job search assistance and a list of the latest job openings.

“Since COVID, most our services are done virtually or over the phone, but we’ve done more training than ever,” Humphries said.

Rome Working Solutions office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact regional Working Solutions offices by phone at: Rome 315-356-0662; Utica 315-207-6951; Wampsville 315-363-2400; and Herkimer 315-867-1400.
