Knife attack charged in south Utica
UTICA — A Utica man is accused of slashing another man in the face with a knife in front of the Price Chopper in south Utica, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said Fhard Hagans, 28, confronted the victim in front of the store on lower Genesee Street on Jan. 25 and the two got into an argument. Police said Hagans and the victim had problems with one another in the past.
During the argument, police said Hagans pulled out a knife and slashed the other man in the face, then fled the scene. The injury was not severe, authorities noted.
A warrant was issued for Hagans and police said he turned himself in on Thursday. Hagans is charged with one count each of attempted second-degree assault and third-degree possession of a weapon, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
