Alexa Kiser’s double-double of scoring a game-high 22 points and pulling down 11 rebounds led the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls basketball team to 52-48 win over Notre Dame at home in a Tri-Valley League contest on Monday night.
Kiser also had five blocks for the Red Devils in the win, while McKenna Berry scored 19 points and had six rebounds.
VVS improved to 7-7 overall and 3-0 in TVL play.
Oneida rolls past APW
Lauren Skibitski scored a game-high 21 points for the Oneida girls basketball squad as the Indians rolled to a 70-46 non-league home victory over Altmer-Parish-Williamstown.
Skitbitski had five rebounds and two steals for the Indians in the win and Ella Rainbow chipped in with 16 points for Oneida.
Abby Carroll and Lauren Hopkins each scored seven points for Oneida.
The Indians are 10-2 on the season.
Oriskany wins 10th game
In another non-league girls basketball game, Oriskany defeated Madison, 67-57, on the road.
Matteson Hoehn scored a team-high 21 points for the Redskins and Jane Fahy finished with 14 points.
Aeron Hamm added 10 points for Oriskany in the victory.
Kayla Usborne scored a game-high 22 points for Madison.
Oriskany is 10-3 overall and 4-0 in CSC play.
Red Devils fall to Proctor
In a girls TVL bowling match, VVS lost to Proctor High of Utica, 10.5-.5.
In the loss, MacKenzie O’Herien rolled a 207 game and a 559 series for the Red Devils and broke her own record for average. O’Herien’s old record was 193.1 last season and this year, her average is at 202.1.
VVS is 3-8 on the season.
VVS sweeps Mt. Markham
In a boys volleyball match, VVS swept Mount Markham 3-0 on the road.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-13 and 25-22.
Owen Rose had four digs, 13 assists, eight kills and three blocks for the Red Devils and Brennan Miller finished with two aces, two digs and 18 assists.
Gavin Miller had three aces and 11 digs for 7-1 VVS.
Oneida reaches .500
Zoey Fox had three aces, 24 assists and five digs for the Oneida girls volleyball team as they swept Camden, 3-0 in a TVL match.
Set scores were 25-7, 25-13 and 25-14.
Jamie Jones had two blocks, two digs and 10 kills for the Indians in the win.
Oneida evens its record at 6-6 overall and in the TVL.
