Kirkland Town Library to hold Storybook Pumpkin Contest
CLINTON — Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St., will host its fifth annual Storybook Pumpkin Contest starting Friday, Oct. 4.
Patrons are invited to decorate a pumpkin like their favorite storybook character. Stop by the library starting Oct. 4 to register and pick up a pumpkin. Take it home, decorate it and bring it back to the library by Friday, Oct. 18.
During the week of Oct. 21, the library will display all the creations and let patrons vote on their favorites. Visit the library’s Facebook page to see some past entries and get inspired.

Join in the conversation with David Gapp, Silas D. Childs Professor in Agricultural Chemistry and Professor of Biology Emeritus and Senior Lecturer in Biology on, “The Poison Squad,” by Deborah Blum. The book tells the true story of food safety in the United States, led by Dr. Harvey Washington Wiley. Copies of the book are available at the Kirkland Town Library.
Monday Book Group
Oct. 7 at 1 p.m.
All are invited to join a conversation on, “The Library Book,” by Susan Orlean. Copies of the book are available at the library.
Monday Movies
Oct. 7, 21 and 28 at 2 p.m.
Watch a recent release on the big screen. Popcorn will be served. For movie titles, check the library’s website.
Art Show Opening
Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 3-5 p.m.
All are welcome to an opening reception for the Utica Art Association’s Member Show.
Donate Your Bras
Oct. 14-25
As part of The Great Give Back, a day of service at public libraries, the Kirkland Town Library will collect gently used bras and new underwear to donate to Emmaus House in Utica. To learn more about how other libraries are participating, visit www.thegreatgiveback.org.
