Kirkland Senior Center announces May activities

CLARK MILLS — The Kirkland Senior Center, Mill Street, has announced the following events for the month of May:

-May 3, noon, hamburgers and hot dogs ($5);

-May 10, 11 a.m., council meeting; noon, hamburgers and hot dogs ($5); 12:30 p.m., speaker from Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute on Norman Rockwell;

-May 12, 11:30 a.m., Dine-Around at “The View” at Skenandoa Club, Norton Avenue, Clinton;

-May 17, noon, hamburgers and hot dogs ($5);

-May 24, noon, hamburgers and hot dogs ($5); 12:30 p.m., performance by the Westmoreland Brass Ensemble;

-May 31, noon, covered dish, $3, no charge if you bring a dish to pass.

The center is now open on Tuesdays. The center offers Bingo and Pool at 9:30 a.m., exercise class from 11:15-11:45 a.m. and lunch at noon. There will be coffee, tea and water (25 cent charge for water) available. Most Tuesdays the center hosts a 50/50 raffle.

Patrons are welcome to bring their own lunch. The last Tuesday of the month is covered dish. Occasionally there are speakers or entertainment. After the meeting, attendees listen to jokes, play cards, work on jigsaw puzzles or just visit.

The center has a library full of paperback and hardcover books. On the third Thursday of the month, the center does a Dine-Around, where attendees go out to lunch at a restaurant in the surrounding area. During the good weather, the center offers day trips, such as Theodore’s Restaurant for lunch and a show, or a road trip to Cooperstown.
