Kirkland library offers online performance, workshop

CLINTON — Kirkland Town Library, 9 1/2 E. Park Row, will hold an online performance of The Secret Life of Your Third Grade Teacher with Micaela Blei on Zoom at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 9. There will also be a storytelling workshop with Blei on Sunday, May 10, from 1-3 p.m.

About the show

In her award-winning solo show The Secret Life of Your Third Grade Teacher, Blei — a former elementary school teacher and a two-time Moth Grand SLAM champion — comes clean about classroom disasters and secret loves. It’s a story for grown-ups about the dangers of playing pretend.

“Micaela Blei’s solo show about teaching third grade is fresh, hilarious, and surprisingly moving,” said Sarah Moore, of Theater is Easy.

About the workshop

Join Micaela Blei on Zoom for an afternoon of storytelling. Whether it’s a story for a slam, a wedding toast, a mission statement or the beginnings of a memoir — Blei can help participants find their story’s focus, and the confidence to captivate their audience. The workshop is for everyone from beginners who want to build confidence and find their stories, to storytellers who want new tools for their toolbox.

How to attend

Both the performance at 7 p.m. on May 9 and the workshop at 1 p.m. on May 10 are pay-what-you-can (all proceeds support Blei and the KAC), but registration is required to receive the Zoom login link, and there is a cap of 25 participants for the storytelling workshop. Call 315-853-2038 or e-mail clinton@midyork.org for more information.
