Kids' Run to return in-person for Boilermaker weekend

NEW HARTFORD — Utica National Insurance Group and the Boilermaker Road Race have come together to announce the return of the Utica National Kids' Run. After a virtual run in 2020 and a postponed run in 2021, this year's run will be held in-person.

This year will mark the 33rd year the Utica National Kids' Run has taken place and organizers believe it has now become a key component for a return to normalcy with children.

"The Kids' Run truly is an integral part of Boilermaker weekend," said Chief Marketing Officer of Utica National Insurance Group Sarah Mariani-Hinman. "Not only does is bring so much joy to the children and families of our community, but it also begins to teach them about the sport of running and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle."

The Utica National Kids' Run will take place at the Mohawk Valley Community College campus at 1101 Sherman Drive in Utica on Saturday, July 9 at 8 a.m.

This years' run will have races in the following categories:

  • Special Needs 1/4 Mile, ages 4-16
  • 1/4 Mile, ages 4-6
  • 1/2 Mile, ages 7-8
  • 3/4 Mile, ages 9-10
  • 1 Mile, ages 11-12

Registration for this year's kids' run is exclusively online and is on a first come, first served basis to the first 1,000 participants.
