Kids can ‘Touch a Truck’ at upcoming event
WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Fire Department will be hosting a Touch a Truck event on Monday, featuring apparatus from the highway department, local police agencies and their own fire trucks.
The event is free and open to the public. The Touch a Truck event will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Park Avenue from 5 to 7 p.m. July 18.
“It’s just for the kids to sit on the trucks and see what’s going on,” said Fire Captain Brian McQueen, the department’s fire prevention coordinator.
“It’s just a fun night. It’s all free. We just hope people come out and enjoy themselves.”
The event will feature vehicles from the Whitesboro Fire Department, Yorkville Fire Department, Whitesboro Police Department, the Whitesboro Highway Department, the Whitestown Highway Department, COVAC Ambulance and more.
The event is also being held in conjunction with the local farmer’s market, McQueen stated.
