Cinema Capitol Gallery, 230 W. Dominick St., will feature the Keith M. Leonard Tribute Show beginning with an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 6.
The art show will run through June 25, and it will also be featured on the Rome Art Association virtual gallery at romeartassociation.com.
Leonard, who died in December, was an active artist and Rome Art Association board member. His artwork, sharp wit, and selfless support of his fellow artists will be greatly missed, Rome Art Association officials said. The show is a tribute to him and his work.
“My work is an expression for my love of nature, especially trees, water, and animals,” explained Leonard of his work. “I am also fascinated by mans’ imprint on the natural world. Many of my paintings have featured old or abandoned structures. I usually keep a camera handy when I am out and about, and always when I am traveling to a place I may never get back to again.”
He said, “I strive to paint a scene exactly as seen or photographed, but also through my own eyes. If I am successful, the viewer will share in the beauty or drama that was my original inspiration.”
