The inaugural Keep Rome Beautiful Day will be held on Saturday, May 18, according to an announcement by event
City Hall, in partnership with Main Streets Alliance, Positively Rome, and Rome Clean and Green, is encouraging individuals and businesses to volunteer to “help spruce up different areas of the community, including parks trails and other specified locations of need.”
“We’re very excited to host the first-ever Keep Rome Beautiful Day,” said Mayor Jacqueline M. Izzo.
“The Rome community takes a lot of pride in keeping their parks and neighborhoods looking pristine, and this event brings the whole community together for that purpose,” Izzo added.
Those interested in participating can meet at Bellamy Harbor Park Navigation Center, 420 harbor Way, to receive work gloves, garbage bags, water, and their tools. Each volunteer group will be assigned a location to clear trash.
Keep Rome Beautiful Day is being held with Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Clean-Up and New York State’s Canal Clean Sweep.
“We want the pubic to know how much we appreciate their support as we launch this clean-up effort,” said Jake DiBari of Positively Rome and Rome Clean and Green.
“The city does an amazing job each year of beautifying the city each spring, but when you have a city as large as Rome, it’s critical to get community support in helping to maintain our beautiful neighborhoods,” DiBari added.
All participants are asked to register online prior to the event at romenewyork.com under “featured links.”
