Joy school to host ‘trunk-or-treat’ event Oct. 29

A John E. Joy Elementary School Halloween “trunk-or-treat” event for the school’s students and families, including social distancing due to COVID-19 considerations, is scheduled for Oct. 29 at the 8194 Bielby Road facility.

An announcement refers to joining “the John Joy teachers, staff and PTG (parent-teacher-group) for a socially distanced, drive-thru experience” including the school’s bus loop.

The event, for Joy students and families only, includes 5:30-6:30 p.m. for grades K-2 and 6:30-7:30 p.m. for grades 3-6. Participants are invited to “put on your costume, pull up in your car and let the Joy community fill up your bag with treats,” according to the announcement, plus they can “feel free to decorate your vehicle and make it a ‘Drive-Boo.’”

All students must come in a vehicle, no walk-ups will be permitted, and people are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times, the announcement said.
