John P. Nobis, 75, of Taberg, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Born in Rome on February 17, 1944, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Nobis. On October 9, 1970, he was united in marriage to Irene Jacobs. She passed away on January 1, 2007.
John served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-68. He came home and went to work at Camden Wire Co. for many years.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg. He was a talented woodworker and carpenter who spent hours outside logging and working.
John is survived by three children, Frank, Katherine and Stacie Nobis all of Taberg; a sister, Jenny Knudson of Rome; a brother, Stanley Nobis of Taberg; a granddaughter, Elizabeth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, John W. Nobis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc. 418 N. George St., Rome, on Sunday from 2-5:00 p.m.
