John G. Zullo, 80, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on March 6, 1939 in Rome, the son of Joseph and Madeline Frank Zullo.On January 6, 1960 in St. Mary’s Church he married Betty Campbell, a blessed union of 59 years.He was a graduate of RFA, class of 1957.
John was a successful entrepreneur in Marketing and an inspirational speaker.He was an accomplished basketball referee; enjoyed carpentry; was a jack of all trades and could fix anything.He formally was a disc jockey (DJ). He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He loved music and played in a band, loved cars and enjoyed soap box derbies with his three sons and nephew when they were growing up.He loved to travel and has visited various places all over the world.He was a dedicated family man and enjoyed having his family over every Sunday for dinner.He never missed his grandchildren’s sporting events, graduations and life events.
John is survived by his beloved family, his wife Betty; sons Craig (Maureen) Zullo of Rome, Joseph Zullo of Rome and Todd (Ursula) Zullo of Raleigh, NC.; cherished grandchildren, Carolyn (John) McMahon , Allison (Charlie) Gottlieb, Amy (Andrew) Zullo, Lindsey (Eric) Zullo, Hayle (EJ) Lilie, Gabby Zullo and Evan Zullo; three great-grandsons, John McMahon, Connor McMahon and Charlie Gottlieb; a sister Marie Zullo Sonsini and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by a brother Louis Joseph Zullo and a brother-in-law, Vincent Sonsini.
John’s family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care for their outstanding care and help.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 7, at 6 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service.
John’s family will cherish all of the wonderful memories they have had with him over the years and will never forget his laugh.
