Job Fair to help House of Good Shepherd staff new program

The House of the Good Shepherd is one of 13 agencies selected by NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to provide Residential Services to juvenile criminal suspects 16 years of age or older under the Raise the Age legislation.

The House will be opening a structured 12-bed residential program to meet the needs of this population.

Services for youth focus on education, vocational training, work readiness, and social-emotional and behavioral needs. Additionally, the program will provide intensive aftercare community-based support and supervision.

The goal of this program is to protect offenders under the age of 18 by keeping them out of the adult criminal justice system and treating them in a system more appropriate for a young person.

The House of the Good Shepherd will hold a job fair on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from noon-2:00 p.m. and 4–6 p.m. at their business office located at 100 Lomond Court, Utica.

They are hiring a range of positions from entry-level Direct Care Workers and Teacher Assistants to mid-management level positions like Program Supervisors and Clinical Managers as well as Social Workers, Teachers, and a Recreation Therapist.
