Joann (Wahl) Lambert, 58, passed away suddenly at her home Wednesday morning, March 7, 2018.
Joann was born on September 5, 1959 in Plattsburg, NY on the Air Force Base where her father was serving. She was the daughter of Andrew A. Wahl and Shirley (Tiffany) Tanner.
On September 17, 1977 Joann married Thomas R. Lambert in Floyd, NY. A member of the class of 1978 of Holland Patent High School, Joann actually completed her high school degree in Italy, where her husband served on the Aviano Air Base. As part of a true military family, Joann in her young married life resided in various European countries including Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, France, Austria, Switzerland, and England. She also visited many others, among them East Germany before the Berlin Wall fell. Their eldest child Brandon was born in 1979 while they were living in Italy, and their daughter Rebecca Marie was born in 1981 in Athens, Greece.
Ultimately returning to reside in Otsego County, Joann worked for Otsego County Home Health and served as a home health aide. She was a member of Madison County La Societe de Femme #554. Joann enjoyed many arts and crafts and was known for her photography. A much adored grandmother, she loved her grandchildren dearly. She continued to enjoy traveling and visiting foreign countries.
Joann was predeceased by her brother Andrew Scott Wahl, her sister Linda Susan Thorn, and her father Andrew.
In addition to her husband Thomas, Joann is survived by her son Brandon Lambert of San Antonio, Texas, and her daughter Rebecca Lambert of Rome, NY. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Desiree A. Jester, Khloe M. Watkins, and Jakob T. Watkins all of Rome, NY; her sister Pamela Kinstle of Westmoreland, NY; her sister Ellin Vogel of Buffalo, NY; and her mother Shirley of West Lyden, NY.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home, 28 Pioneer Street, Cooperstown. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. with Chaplain James Boyd officiating. Interment will occur in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Joann’s memory be made to La Societe de Femme C554, PO Box 474, Canastota, NY 13032.
