Mrs. Joan E. Palmer, of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2022.

She was born on January 23, 1939, in Utica, to the late Joseph and Betty O’Hare. She was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy (Class of 1956) and Utica School of Commerce. Following graduation, she was employed by General Electric, St. Peter’s School, and retired from Utica National Insurance.

On December 30, 1961, Joan was united in marriage with Willard C. Palmer, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Utica. A blessed union of over 60 years. Joan was a wonderful and kind wife, mother and grandmother. We will always remember her delicious pies and cookies, as well as her beautiful handmade blankets and quilts. She loved spending time in the Adirondacks, especially at the family camp in Okara Lakes.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, and two brothers, Paul and Glenn O’Hare.

Joan is survived by her husband, Willard (Bill); her two sons, Michael Palmer of Ithaca, and Brian Palmer and wife Mia of Barneveld; and her daughter, Karen Carpenter and husband Mike of Floyd. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Connor and Patrick Carpenter, Madison Palmer, and Matthew and William Palmer.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m., at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Burrstone Rd. Campus (Our Lady of the Rosary), 1736 Burrstone Rd., New Hartford. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro.
