TABERG — Joan D. Palmer, 84, of MacFarland Road, Taberg, died peacefully in the comfort of her daughter’s home on Thursday morning, September 16, 2021.
Joan was born on November 21, 1936, in Taberg, the daughter of Harold and Mary Allman Dean. She was a 1954 graduate of Camden High School and received her Registered Nursing License from Syracuse General School of Nursing
Joan had been employed as a registered nurse at the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany for several years. She had previously been employed with Rome Parkway Nursing Home and Rome Memorial Hospital
On June 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Clifford C. Palmer at the United Methodist Church in Taberg. Mr. Palmer died on February 9, 2013.
Joan and her husband loved camping and spent several winters in Malabar, FL.
Surviving is her family she so dearly loved: her four children, Kathy (Jack) Campbell of Canastota, Craig (Robin) Palmer of Lee Center, Karen (George) Lewis of Taberg, Patty (Mike) Dell’Olio of Ontario, NY; nine grandchildren, Justin (Courtney), Brandon (San), Jordan (Jen), Lindsay, Jenalyn, Gavin, Michael, Matthew and Joseph; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Sheila) Dean of Taberg; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Dean of Taberg, Ann Britton of Albany; two brothers-in-law, Alan (Ethel) Palmer of Blossvale and Paul Palmer of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Frederick Dean, John (Meryl) Dean and Douglas Dean.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Due to the current COVID situation, a Memorial Service will be held at a future date at the Taberg United Methodist Church. Joan’s memorial contributions may be made to Taberg United Methodist Church, 5001 Church Street, Taberg, NY 13471.
