Jean B. Gaudin


OLD FORGE, NY — Jean B. Gaudin, 97, of Old Forge passed away peacefully at the Waterville Residential Care Center on Friday May 6, 2022.

She was born on September 4, 1924, in Weehawken, NJ, a daughter of the late Donald and Alice (Gray) Burgess. She was a graduate of Oswego High School, and the Rochester Dental School.

On March 3, 1946, in Old Forge she was united in marriage to Edward S. Risley Jr. a blessed union of over 26 years, Mr. Risley passed away in May of 1973. She later was united in marriage to Lawrence P. Gaudin in May of 1985, Mr. Gaudin passed away in March of 2008.

Mrs. Gaudin was a Dental Hygienist with Dr. Robert Burchesky in Old Forge and also with Dr. Kilbourn in Old Forge.

She was a member of Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church in Old Forge, and the Eastern Star Old Forge Chapter. In her free time she enjoyed reading, word puzzles and cross stitching. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished the time that she spent with her family, especially her adored children, and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Terrance) Yardley of Sherrill, NY, Patricia (Dan) Strickland of Kentucky, Sheila (Tim) White of Old Forge, Donald Risley and Sharon Kistner of North Creek, NY. She leaves her grandchildren, Yvonne (Randy) Wilkinson, Yvette (Dave) Jenkins, Dawn Dolan, Paul (Jeff) Sasenbury, Caytlinn (Joe) Batal, Brittany (Chris) Grow, Aubrey (Vincent) Craft, Taylor White and Ryan Maio, Lauren Risley, and Hannah Risley; also 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She leaves her special friends, Dorothy Walker and Ruth and Al Brussel. She was predeceased by a son, Robert P. Risley, and a brother, Robert Burgess.

The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge Karen Houghton and Tammy Brewer for the wonderful care and many acts of kindness that was given to Mrs. Gaudin over the years. Also a special thank you to the Waterville Residential Care Center for the wonderful care complemented by true compassion that was given to Mrs. Gaudin during her stay there.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial service on Saturday May 14, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church, 228 Crosby Blvd. in Old Forge with the Rev. James Ulrich officiating. There will be a luncheon at the Church following the services on Saturday. Family and friends are able to call on Friday May 13, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc., 128 Fern Ave. in Old Forge. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Old Forge.
