Jacqueline A. Janowicz


Jacqueline A. Janowicz, 80, formerly of Rome, passed away on October 31, 2019 in Indio, CA. She was born on October 20, 1939 in Rome, the daughter of Gerald and Elizabeth Watson. She graduated from Rome Free Academy and on December 7, 1956, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Janowicz.

Jacqueline held various different jobs in her life including administrative assistant at Revere Copper and Brass, Mohawk Airlines, Piedmont Airlines, USAirways, and the Rome Art and Community Center. In recent years, she and Bill retired to Indio, CA, where she was active with the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center and the McCallum Theater. Jacquie was a voracious reader of books, loved to travel, especially spending summers in Manchester by the Sea and vacationing with family in Hanalei, Kauai, HI. She loved entertaining with family and friends and she especially loved the Dodgers. She was a member at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Palm Desert, CA.

She is survived by her husband Bill; sister Jill Rahman-Watson, Hercules, CA; sons Steven (Theresa) Janowicz, Royal Oak, MI; David (Mary) Janowicz, Escondido, CA; and Mark (special friend Mary Lee) Manchester by the Sea, MA. Also surviving are her grandchildren who she loved to spend time with Emma Janowicz, Campbell, CA; Nikolas Janowicz, Boston, MA; Sarah Janowicz, Boston, MA; and Will Janowicz, Manchester by the Sea. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Ann Charon (Gregory), Mechanicsville, NY; and a brother-in-law Charles Janowicz (Kelly), Clifton Park, NY; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Matthew Janowicz, and brother-in-law Wahlid Rahman.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Palm Desert, CA, in memory of Jacqueline.

Donations in remembrance of Jacquie’s name can be made to the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center, 3900 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270.
