SCHUYLER — No one was injured when a tractor trailer jack-knifed in a Thruway construction zone in Herkimer County Monday morning, blocking both lanes of eastbound traffic for several hours, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers said an eastbound tractor trailer twisted and became stuck between the construction barriers on either side of the state Thruway at about 5:30 a.m. Monday.

One eastbound pickup truck then crashed into the stuck truck, and then a second pickup truck hit debris in the roadway shortly thereafter, according to the state law enforcers.

The crash occurred within the town of Schuyler, between Exit 31 in Utica and Exit 30 in Herkimer.

Eastbound traffic was diverted at Utica for several hours before the scene was cleared and traffic flow restored.

State police officials said the crashes remain under investigation.
