Irish dance classes start Sept. 10

UTICA — Irish Ceili (pronounced “kay-lee”) dance classes will resume at the Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley, 623 Columbia St., at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10.

The classes are hosted by Craobh Dugan-O’Looney. Ceili dancing is the forerunner of American Square Dancing, and typically involves two, three or four couples. The Ceili Dance Classes at the ICCMV are free. Participants do not need special shoes or a partner.

After the first class, dancers will know the basics steps and how to dance at least one of the easier Ceili dances. Classes will be held weekly on Fridays at 7 p.m. at the ICCMV. For more information, email or call 315-853-5973.
