Irish Cultural Center helps food pantries during virus crisis
The Irish Cultural Center has launched a fund-raising effort to help our area food pantries and soup kitchens through social media.
We are blessed to have many organizations that have made it their mission to provide the needy with nutritious meals and food items. These organizations have done and continue to do a great job for Central NY. We at the Irish Cultural Center believe that the need for nutritious meals will increase dramatically as we confront the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of our friends and neighbors who have lost their jobs as a result of the virus will find themselves stressed to feed their families. The existing safety nets that we have could be overwhelmed with requests for meals and other food items as we move into the summer. It is for that reason that we are asking our friends who are in a position to help to donate to our outreach. All of the funds that we receive will be given to the pantries and kitchens that are in need.
As you know hunger is a great part of our Irish heritage, and as a nationality we are very dedicated to helping eliminate it when we see it. We know that you need not be Irish to help those in need and that we are all in this together. We are indeed Our Brothers’ Keepers.
You can donate by going to www.iccmv.org or the Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley Facebook page.Thank you
