Irish Ceili Dance classes start Friday

Posted

UTICA — Craobh Dugan-O’Looney is re-starting its free Irish Ceili Dance classes with a meeting for anyone interested at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley, 623 Columbia St.

Irish Ceili dancing is group dancing with 2, 4, 6, or 8 dancers. Irish Ceili dance had a large influence on American Square dancing, and some of the dances are almost identical. No fancy steps need to be learned, and you do not need special shoes or a partner.

The Irish Ceili Dance classes are free and open to all ages. Members of Craobh Dugan-O’Looney will lead and teach the dances. For more information, contact Jim at 315-336-5966.
