Inmate accused of attacking another inmate with sharp object

WAMPSVILLE — An inmate at the Madison County Jail has been charged with attacking another inmate with a sharp object, according to local law enforcers.

Sheriff’s deputies said Joseph M. Love, 26, got into an argument with another inmate over the use of a tablet on Jan. 5.

Deputies said Love then attacked the other inmate with a dangerous instrument, stabbing the other man in the throat
and attempting to stab him in the eye.

Love is charged with two counts of attempted assault and one count each of second-degree menacing and third-degree possession of a weapon, authorities said.

He was arraigned in court and was returned to the county jail, according to the county law enforcement officials.

Love is scheduled to reappear in court to answer the charges, the law enforcers added.
