NEW HARTFORD — Grey Fox Mercantile, 70 Genesee St., will open its newest exhibition featuring two illustrators: Sheli Petersen and Maria Vallese, from Aug. 2 through Sept. 2.
 
Vallese is an illustrator and artist living in Utica. She is a 2010 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s of fine arts degree in Illustration. She specializes in color-saturated artwork and illustrations, inspired by building architecture, interesting places and people, and a little bit of nostalgia.
 
Petersen is an internationally exhibited artist who has published five picture books. She is also an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators. In addition to her creative practice, Petersen manages the graphic design program and teaches at Texas Woman’s University in the Dallas area.
 
Grey Fox Mercantile hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For additional information, visit www.greyfoxfelting.com.
