HP man sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for child pornography

A Holland Patent man has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for possessing and distributing kiddie porn.

John Angwin, 30, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Syracuse on Monday on charges of distributing and possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Along with 11 years in prison, court officials said Angwin was sentenced to 25 years of post-release supervision and was ordered to pay $12,000 in restitution.

Angwin will also have to register as a sex offender.

Authorities said Angwin used the Kik Messenger application to distribute kiddie porn to other Kik users. Authorities said Angwin possessed the images and videos on his cell phone, having downloaded them off the internet. Authorities said Angwin had over 1,500 images and 150
videos.
