Grief — after the first year
An educational session for adults who are beyond the first year of grief. The session will cover what to expect as the grief journey continues, techniques to find the balance between grieving and going on, and ways to incorporate the loss into one’s identity and search for meaning. This will be held on Monday, April 5, from 2:30-4 p.m. To register, call Licensed Clinical Social Worker Linda Clark at 315-735-6487, ext. 1015 by Monday, April 5.
Young widows group
For young widows ages 20-60. Often women in this age group do not have peers who are going through this kind of loss, and their grief can feel very isolating. Juggling jobs, children, parents, and social obligations is hard; it feels overwhelming when spousal grief is added.
The group provides the time to express and share grief, learn coping skills from one another, give and receive support, and begin the healing process. Starts Wednesday, April 14, and meets for six consecutive weeks. Afternoon Group: 2:30-4 p.m. Evening Group: 5:30-7 p.m. To register, contact LCSW Clark at 315-735-6487, ext. 1015 by Monday, March 29.
Adult parental loss
For any adult who has experienced the death of a parent. The loss of a parent is the most common form of bereavement in our country. Because of this, adult children often feel a sense of isolation and may sense an unspoken message that adult parental loss is less significant than other losses. No matter what the age of our parent or where or how the death occurred, the grief felt by an adult child can be intense and overwhelming.
The group is a safe place to share feelings and experiences, ask questions, seek comfort or just listen. It is a place to receive and give support. Starts Tuesday, April 20, and meets for six consecutive weeks. The Afternoon Group will meet 2:30-4 p.m. And the Evening Group will meet 5:30-7 p.m. To register call Licensed Medical Social Worker Adrian Bartholomeo at 315-570-1131 by April 13.
Spousal loss grief group
For anyone who has experienced the death of a spouse or partner. The length of a marriage or committed relationship does not determine the depth of grief. The group focuses on normal responses to grief and the tasks of mourning. It is a safe place to share feelings and experiences, ask questions, and seek comfort. It is a place to receive and give support.
It starts Thursday, April 22, and meets for six consecutive weeks. The Afternoon Group meets 2:30-4 p.m. and the Evening Group meets 5:30-7 p.m. To register call Licensed Clinical Social Worker Sabrina Wing at 315-982-2103 by April 15.
Brave Hearts children’s program

Although this will not be an in-person group at this time, children and their families will receive educational materials along with activities through mailings. Supportive phone calls will be included to help the families understand and carry out the activities. Dates and times are to be determined for the program. To register, call LMSW Bartholomeo at 315-570-1131 or LCSW Wing.
